The Bellbird Song

I was born in Singapore and I came to Adelaide to do my undergraduate degrees. I fell in love with this beautiful and peaceful place, so I have stayed on to work. For the 8 years I have been here, I have changed addresses at least 6 times. (Honestly I think it was more but I have lost count of the number of times.) I have always wished I could stay in one place permanently, and most of me still cannot believe that this wish is going to come true.

How the story began:

I had a friend who worked in a property investment group, and I went along to one of the free seminars. At that time I didn’t think buying a house was for me, but I was curious about the process and I read up about it. The idea that it could actually be possible started to settle in me, so I got stuck into the research quite fervently, and after many sleepless nights, I made the decision to build a house.

It was exciting yet scary. Some people tell me it is a wonderful thing. And of course there will be those that probably think I didn’t think this through, just like any ignorant and naive girl would be. In the end, I have plucked up the courage to do it.

I hunted around for land on realestate.com.au, picked a few, even made an offer, but was pretty unsuccessful. I was stressing out about housing grant deadlines, budget, and all my other criteria.  I did the weirdest thing possible. I look for land for sale on Gumtree. Yes. Gumtree. And that’s where I bought my land.

And the adventure begins.
